How Can Your Club Help RYLA?
Tall pine trees, early morning fresh air, and scores of teenagers climbing out of sleeping bags eagerly facing a new day. This is just a small part of the reality of RYLA in District 5390. Camp RYLA will be an incredible experience for young people in your community. The camp is held at Luccock Park Camp, approximately 15 miles south of Livingston. All forms and camp /student selection information are available on this page for your Club use. The price per camper for 2025 is $485.00, and the camp will be held in June. The RYLA Rotary chair is Ryan Walla of our Billings West Club.
What Should My Club Be Doing When?
This is a suggested timeline for your club to help guide what it should be doing when for RYLA. Please feel free to adapt to what works best for your local community, but keep in mind all tasks need to be completed for your student to attend RYLA.
The hard deadlines are: April 20th, May 10th, June 5th, June 15th. Please refer to them below for more information on the specific dates. ​

​Any time between July 1 and December 31 - APPOINT YOUR CLUB RYLA CHAIR and select a committee of club members who will help interview the student applicants.

January, early to middle of the month - DOWNLOAD THE RYLA SUPPORT DOCUMENTS.

January and before the end of February - PROMOTE THE RYLA OPPORTUNITY to potential candidates by sending flyers and letters to local schools (home school is also eligible) and send a press release to your local or area papers.

April 20th ABSOLUTE DEADLINE to receive at least two reservations. Money for at least these two must be received by the RYLA registrar by May 1st - Have the Club RYLA Chair REGISTER YOUR CLUB FOR RYLA on the district web site. Send payment for at least the first two reservations to the DISTRICT RYLA REGISTRAR – DO NOT send payment to the District.

Recommend no later than April 20th - COLLECT APPLICATIONS from interested students. A sample student Application is linked below.

March, April and by no later than May 15 - INTERVIEW APPLICANTS and evaluate them using the candidate interview materials linked below. It is STRONGLY recommended that members of the club personally interview each applicant.

By May 10th - SELECT YOUR RYLA CAMPERS along with one or two alternates (if available). If a selected student cannot attend RYLA, and a club has no alternate, there may be a drawing from among all properly registered Alternates to fill an opening.

Before May 15 - SEND RESPONSE LETTERS to all of your applicants. Include the following to the selected candidates: What to Bring and Not Bring to Camp; Medical and Conduct form, and Permissions form.

June 15, ABSOLUTE DEADLINE FOR ONLINE REGISTRATION - HAVE SELECTED STUDENTS REGISTER ONLINE. This information is needed to order our camper supplies by the end of May.

May 10th DO NOT send payment to the District address, send a check to the RYLA Registrar - SEND FINAL PAYMENT FOR REMAINING RESERVATIONS to the District RYLA Registrar (address is on the website and camper forms– DO NOT send your check to the District address.

May 10th - FINAL DATE TO REQUEST A FULL REFUND FOR A CAMPER.

Late May to early June - Recommended: SEND A PRESS RELEASE to local papers congratulating your selected students.

June 15th DEADLINE FOR Students to Register- Have selected participants register through the Montana RyLA website digital form.

June 5th - FINAL DATE TO REQUEST A PARTIAL REFUND FOR A CAMPER after May 9th and up to June 5th, only 50% of the cost for a camper can be refunded. By this point, camper items have been ordered.

Confirm no later than June 15th - Make sure your campers have a way to get to camp (the club, parents, the bus if on the west side of the continental divide(this bus is sponsored and provided by the clubs that utilize the bus.)).

Recommend as soon after camp as possible following camp - INVITE YOUR RYLA STUDENTS TO SPEAK AT A CLUB MEETING.
